20170211 233958594 iOSBack in November 2016 we were nominated to be included in the HRA Annual awards, Small groups, this was for the work we did putting on the Road Closure service in July 2016. There was a short list of 4. These were: -

  • The Bredgar and Wormshill Railway, for the creation of an appealing collection of working Railway artefacts.
  • The Ecclesbourne Valley Railway, for the completion of a booking office at both ends of a complete branch line.
  • The Headhunters Barber Shop and Museum, for a very individual approach that brings many aspects of the railways in Enniskillen to life in a working barber shop.
  • And The Leadhills and Wanlockhead Railway, for providing essential public transport into their village whilst the main highway was closed, saving a 50 mile detour.

The awards dinner was held on Saturday 11th Feb at the Wolverhampton Low Station conference centre. David Winpenny attended as the representative of the railway, and he is delighted and very proud to announce that we won the award. The award itself is a solid brass plaque that will take pride of place at the station in Leadhills.
