Easter Saturday (March 22nd)

Start of the operating season. If we have sufficient staff then we will try to open for the season on Easter Saturday. The Easter bunny will be around along with Easter egg hunts, egg painting competitions and egg rolling. See our bunny page for booking details

Diesel Gala Weekend

The next gala weekend will be on 24th, 25th and 26th of May when we will have all our operational locomotives in action. Freight trains will operate alongside our normal passenger service . A recently restored NCB manrider will be in action giving visitors the opportunity to experience travel in this mode of transport. Tours of the site and the signal box will also be available. Model Rail Exhibitions

We will be attending the SECC exhibition in February and the Dumfries exhibition in May, as well as attending the Cathcart and Falkirk model rail shows later in the year.

Steam Weekend

A possibility depending on finance. Dates most likely the 19th and 20th July

Depot Twinning

It is hoped this event will take place sometime . The first twinning of depots in Scotland, Leadhills with the Freightliner Heavy Haul Depot at Troon. A special train will depart Leadhills carrying the "Glengonnar Venturer" headboard, at the end of the line the Headboard will be conveyed by road to Sanquhar station where a Freighliner Heavy Haul coal train will be stopped and the headboard transferred for the journey South. Further information and detailed timings will be posted once a date has been confirmed.

Annual General Meeting

Our AGM is to be held on Sunday May 25th starting at 5pm at the Hopetoun Arms, Leadhills

Halloween

Saturday 1st November. Ghost Train runs all day, costumes, scone licking, apple dunking

Santa Weekend

In conjunction with the Scottish Museum of Lead Mining we will be running Santa Specials on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th December 2008. Book online here .
